Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said the police would be monitoring the route the chariot is taking, starting from the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, in Jalan Tun H S Lee, here, to the Sri Subramaniar Temple in Batu Caves.
He said the (permitted) journey in question did not include moving in a procession together or standing and observing by any individual or groups along the route.
“It is stressed that the movement of the chariot must abide by the tight conditions and SOPs. The chariot cannot stop at any location along the route and no music in any form is allowed throughout the journey.
“Also, no trading is allowed anywhere along the route from the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple to the Sri Subramaniar Temple, except those which are already operating there with the permission of the local authorities,” he said in a statement today.
In addition, Hamid said only 10 people were allowed to accompany the chariot, namely, five temple committee members and five other personnel.
Today, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob reminded the public not to move in a procession with the chariot ferrying the statues of Lord Murugan nor become spectators on the sides of the road in line with the SOPs under the movement control order (MCO).
