In a statement, he said drivers must carry a soft or hard copy of the relevant documents that prove their passengers have the approval to travel, which may be furnished to the authorities after dropping off their customers.
He said this was to prevent irresponsible parties from trying to violate the ongoing movement control order (MCO) by travelling across borders.
“There have been claims that the drivers involved have been detained and questioned by enforcement officers at roadblocks when making their way home after ferrying passengers across district or state borders.
“During the MCO, taxis, rented cars and e-hailing services are allowed to operate fully as they fall under the category of essential services.
“They are also allowed to cross districts and state borders as permitted under the commercial vehicles category,” he said, reminding drivers that the standard operating procedures must be complied with at all times.
