In a statement today, the operator said the expansion will extend coverage to nine new neighbourhoods and two business districts — Taman Intan Baiduri, Taman Naga Emas, USJ 1, Uniten, TAR UMT, Taman Sri Sinar, SS7 in Kelana Jaya, Puchong Jaya and Taman TAR, as well as Matrade and Mont Kiara.
Several existing zones will also be merged to improve connectivity along key routes such as Metro Prima-FRIM, Serdang-Bukit Jalil, and the Kuala Lumpur central business district.
The expansion will be implemented in stages and coincide with the consolidation of Rapid Bus’s three existing booking applications — Mobi, Trek Rides and Kummute — into a single integrated platform called Rapid On-Demand.
Acting CEO Ku Jamil Zakaria said merging the service zones and booking apps would make the service more accessible and user-friendly.
“Previously, users had to download and use different apps, depending on the zone, which could be confusing.
“With a single unified app, the booking process becomes more straightforward, faster and consistent across all service areas.”
He also said the consolidation of all booking apps into a single Rapid On-Demand platform marks a key milestone in improving user experience.
“This ensures users can travel to more destinations with ease, without switching between services, making public transport a more efficient and user-friendly option.”
Existing users are advised to update or switch to the new app before Nov 1 to ensure a seamless experience.
Users can make payments using the Touch ‘n Go card, MyRapid Concession Card, OKU Smile Travel Pass and Unlimited Travel Pass (My50, MyCity & Family Pass). The RM1 promotional fare will continue to be offered to all users.
