In a statement, Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad revealed that he and three other MPs – Tan Kok Wai (Cheras), Hannah Yeoh (Segambut) and Lim Lip Eng (Kepong) – have been served letters of demand by YWP.
It was previously reported YWP has initiated legal action against PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh, who is also the Ipoh Timur MP, over allegations he made against the foundation.
Nik Nazmi said he received the letter of demand from YWP on Dec 4, seeking RM10 million in compensation for remarks he made alongside the other Kuala Lumpur MPs on Nov 18 last year.
The MPs had urged Putrajaya to abolish YWP over its alleged involvement in the purchase of land owned by Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
This came after the PAC said the management of YWP was exposed to conflicts of interest as the federal territories minister and the Kuala Lumpur mayor were the foundation’s chairman and trustees board member, respectively.
Nik Nazmi said Syahredzan Johan, the lawyer representing the MPs, has responded to YWP’s letter of demand.
“Why didn’t YWP take action against the other PAC members, including Noraini Ahmad, who is a friend of the minister and Umno leader, federal territories minister and YWP chairman Annuar Musa?
“I am not shaken by their (YWP) actions and I will continue to carry out my duties as an elected representative and fight for my constituents,” he said.
