Nazri tests positive for Covid-19

The Padang Rengas MP says he has been admitted to hospital in Kelantan and is 'okay'.

Nazri Aziz says he could have picked up the virus at a press conference he held a few days ago.
PETALING JAYA:
Padang Rengas MP Nazri Aziz has tested positive for Covid-19, believed to have been picked up from a press conference he attended a few days ago.

The former law minister said he had first read about a blogger who attended the conference getting infected. He said he then got himself tested with the result turning out to be positive yesterday.

Nazri told FMT he felt ”okay”, adding that he has been admitted to the Raja Perempuan Zainab Hospital in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, since yesterday.

Last week, Nazri and Umno Supreme Council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman held a press conference, criticising the emergency proclamation, at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur.

Blogger Zaharin Mohd Yasin, 68, who attended the event, posted on Facebook on Jan 14 that he had tested positive for Covid-19.

Yesterday, Zaharin denied claims he had “spread” the virus onto others, saying he had attended another event where former minister Mohamad Sabu was present, where Mohamad and the others present tested negative.

Among those reported to have tested positive for Covid-19 recently are minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (economy) Mustapa Mohamed; women, family and community development minister Rina Harun; home minister Hamzah Zainudin; deputy communications and multimedia minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin; and Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
