Former Lord President Salleh Abas dies, aged 91

The former head of the judiciary was diagnosed with Covid-19 two days ago.

PETALING JAYA:
A former Lord President of the Federal Court, Mohamed Salleh Abas, died early this morning, two days after testing positive for Covid-19.

The 91-year-old was last reported to be receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu.

Salleh, who hails from Kampung Raja, Besut in Terengganu, served as Lord President, now known as Chief Justice, from 1984 to 1988.

In the 1999 general election, he won the Jerteh state seat in Terengganu on a PAS ticket.
