
This was in response to health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah confirming to Malaysiakini that screenings will be conducted only on symptomatic patients.
“This raises the ugly issue of Cabinet ministers lacking readiness in fully supporting our frontliners in their life-and-death battle against Covid-19,” he said in a statement.
He said sufficient resources should have already been made available to frontliners to implement the 3Ts — testing, tracing and treatment.
He slammed the government for not realising how this puts Malaysians at an unnecessary risk of infection.
“US scientists have estimated that transmission from asymptomatic individuals accounted for 59% of all Covid-19 transmissions,” he said.
“This can be seen at the Penang Hospital, with an increasing number of elderly patients contracting the virus from their asymptomatic relatives.”
He called on the government to lift its suspension of Parliament for an inquiry into the matter.
“What is the point of passing RM17 billion to manage Covid-19 if it is not fully mobilised and utilised?”
Earlier today, Lim said DAP was in full support of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s petition to revoke the suspension of Parliament and legislative assemblies.
