SEREMBAN:
The investiture of the state awards, medals and honours in conjunction with the 73rd birthday of the Negeri Sembilan Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, scheduled for Thursday, has been cancelled.

State Secretary Razali Ab Malik, in a statement today, said the cancellation was decreed by Tuanku Muhriz following the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) as announced by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.

“All programmes related to the investiture ceremony at the Throne Room of Istana Besar Seri Menanti in Kuala Pilah are cancelled,” he said.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin announced that the government would implement a two-week MCO in five states – Penang, Selangor, Melaka, Johor and Sabah – and the Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan), from tomorrow until Jan 26.

During the same period, six other states, Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan, will be placed under conditional MCO, while Perlis and Sarawak will be under recovery MCO.

Earlier today, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah proclaimed a Covid-19 emergency that will be enforced up to Aug 1 as a proactive measure to contain the worsening pandemic in Malaysia.
