KOTA TINGGI:
Five members of a family had to sleep in a car when the flood waters in their house at Taman Kota Jaya here rose up to knee high on Sunday.

Zaliza Ali, her daughter and two sons and a niece decided to sleep in her multipurpose vehicle after failing to get a place at an evacuation centre.

She said they went to the evacuation centre at Taman Daiman, about 15km from their house, but was told it was full.

Zaliza, who is in her 40s, said they decided to return to Taman Kota Jaya and spent the night in the car at a petrol station. Her husband was at work outstation.

She said she learnt that each evacuation centre could only accommodate a few families because of the Covid-19 SOPs.

“Alhamdulillah, my family is safe and we were able to evacuate to a relief centre at Taman Kota Jaya yesterday,” she told Bernama.
