Selangor, Perak Sultans, Dr M pay last respects to Tun Rahah

Several DAP leaders were also present to pay their last respects to the wife of Malaysia’s second prime minister.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Perak Sultan, Sultan Nazrin Shah have paid their last respects to Rahah Mohamed Noah, the wife of Malaysia’s second prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein and mother of sixth prime minister Najib Razak.

Sultan Sharafuddin, who was accompanied by the Tuanku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, arrived at Masjid Ar-Rahah in Kerinchi at 9.17am today, while Sultan Nazrin arrived at 9.50am.

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali were also present to pay their last respects, arriving at 9.05am with other family members, including Mukhriz Mahathir.

Also present were several DAP elected representatives, namely Bakri MP Yeo Bee Yin, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok and Ketari assemblyman Young Syefura Othman.

Government and party leaders, including Science, Technology and Innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin, were also seen paying their last respects.

The van carrying Rahah’s body had arrived with a convoy of 10 vehicles at 7.50am today, after leaving her residence at Jalan Eaton.

Rahah, who had also been conferred the title of Tun, passed away yesterday at the age of 87 after being ill for some time. She leaves behind her five sons, Najib, former CIMB group chairman Nazir Razak, Johari Razak, Nazim Razak and Nizam Razak, and their families.
