
According to sources, Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman, will see the Ruler at 10am, believed to submit the name of the Umno candidate to be appointed as the new menteri besar of Perak.
The post is vacant after the resignation of Ahmad Faizal Azumu on Saturday, a day after his failure to obtain a vote of confidence in the state assembly.
He garnered 10 votes in favour, while 48 assemblymen voted against him and one abstained. The motion was brought by the assemblyman for Pengkalan Baru, Abdul Manaf Hashim of Umno.
The Perak state assembly comprises 25 Umno assemblymen, DAP (16), Bersatu (five), Amanah (five), PKR (three), PAS (three), Gerakan (one) and one Independent.
