3 new clusters in Penang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Kedah

It includes the Bakti cluster involving a prison in Seremban.

Follow-up screening of close contacts of confirmed cases is being carried out in the newly identified clusters.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry reported three new clusters in four states today — in Penang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Kedah.

The first is the Pengkalan Barat cluster, involving the Barat Daya district in Penang, and the Kerian, Kuala Kangsar and Kinta districts in Perak.

The Bakti cluster involves a prison in Seremban.

The Bayam Indah cluster involves Kulim and Kuala Muda in Kedah.

The Pengkalan Barat cluster reported 19 new infections. The index case was reported on Nov 10 and so far 251 individuals have been tested.

The index case for the Bakti cluster was reported on Nov 22, with 481 individuals screened and 16 testing positive.

As for the Bayam Indah cluster, the index case was detected on Nov 21, with 70 individuals taking medical swabs. Ten proved positive.

Up till Nov 22, the country had reported 330 clusters, out of which 163 have ended. Four clusters ended today — Kasih, Baiduri, Long and Bestari.

There are still 167 active clusters, with 54 reporting an increase in the number of cases.

The clusters with the highest number of cases remain the Teratai cluster (504), Tombok cluster (42) and Kaya cluster (20).
