
He said 427 people were slapped with compound fines, 27 remanded and one was freed on police bail.
The majority of the offences, Ismail said, was for non-compliance with SOPs such as failing to observe physical distancing, attending nightclubs, not wearing face masks, failure to record particulars of customers at premises, as well as crossing districts or states without authorisation.
A total of 2,779 compliance task force teams, involving 13,544 personnel, were deployed to conduct checks at supermarkets, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks, government offices, as well as land, water and air transport terminals.
“The authorities also arrested 28 foreigners, a smuggler and seized three vehicles in a joint operation between various enforcement agencies,” Ismail said.
On mandatory home quarantine, Ismail said 72,062 people who arrived through KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 to Nov 20 and were placed under quarantine at various centres and public learning institutes all across Malaysia.
Some 404 people were sent to hospital for treatment, while 61,262 people were allowed to return home. Some 10,396 people are undergoing mandatory quarantine.
