Health ministry targeting 0.5 infection rate, says DG

Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says public health activities will be carried out to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The health ministry is targeting a R0 (R naught) value or infectivity rate of below 0.5 through public health activities in preventing and controlling the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the number of new cases reported yesterday – 1,210 – put the country’s immunity rate at between 1.1 and 0.9.

“MoH is targeting R naught or infectivity rate of below 0.5 by increasing public health activities to prevent and control infections,” he said on his official Twitter today.

Covid-19 positive cases in Malaysia have continued to record four digits in the past few days, bringing the total to 49,730.
