State CID chief Fadzil Ahmat said the reports were lodged after the complainant came across Young Syefura’s pictures on social media, along with a group of friends at a beach.
In the pictures – taken at the Avani Sepang Gold Coast Resort – the five were not wearing face masks and did not observe social distancing.
“We are investigating the case,” Fadzil said in a statement.
Last night the Ketari assemblywoman apologised following backlash on social media accusing her of flouting movement restrictions by going to the seaside.
She said she was prepared to be investigated by authorities over her actions.
Selangor is under a conditional movement control order until Dec 6, following a surge in Covid-19 cases.
Young Syefura said on Twitter that she would not leverage on her status as a Pahang assemblywoman to move about in Selangor, where she lives.
Meanwhile, Young Syefura said she had gone to the Sepang police station to give her statement, accompanied by her lawyer, Syahredzan Johan.
Young Syefura added that she was leaving it to the authorities to determine the action to be taken against her.
“I only hope it will be fair and just, and that there is no preferential treatment due to the fact I am an elected representative,” she said in a statement, apologising once again for her actions.
