KUCHING:
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee today said there are 16 Covid-19 cases in the state, with seven related to the Green Hill cluster.

In a statement, it said seven cases were reported in Kuching, seven in Miri and one each in Limbang and Lundu.

The committee said out of the seven cases in Kuching, five patients, aged between 21 and 40, were linked to the Green Hill cluster.

One case was detected from the Baki cluster, while one self-employed woman in Kuching also tested positive for the virus.

It said the other two cases linked to the Green Hill cluster were detected in Miri. The cases had travelled to Kuching last week and met with other patients from the same cluster.

“Two healthcare workers at government medical facilities, two local transmissions and one imported case were also reported in Miri.”

Meanwhile, a close contact with a confirmed case in Limbang and a cleaner at a hotel in Lundu had been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19.

In response to this, the committee had decided that three schools in Samarahan, including SMK Sg Tapang, SMK Wira Penrissen and SK Wira Jaya, will be closed from Nov 2 to Nov 13.

“Three districts, Lundu, Limbang and Miri, have been classified as yellow zones while Kuching remains as a red zone,” it said.

To date, Sarawak has reported a total of 872 cases, including 19 deaths.
