In a Facebook post tonight, Subang MP Wong Chen said: “It appears that we have lost Sabah. This is a very, very sad day.
“In Sabah, we will have to ask why did we lose the Kadazan votes? How could a disunited PN/BN/GRS and a wide multi-cornered contest for most seats produce such results?
“A wide multi-cornered fight, in theory, should have given us an advantage, but it did not for many seats. My team will be pouring over these data in the next few days,” he said.
The opposition MP said a serious post-mortem of the results would be conducted.
He said the Inanam seat would be a main focus of the post-mortem.
“It will be very interesting to see if all our assumptions have proven to be accurate and true to predictions for the seat of Inanam (previously won by sacked PKR vice-president Kenny Chua),” he said.
Earlier tonight, Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin declared that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) had wrested power in Sabah from Warisan Plus.
He said the coalition of PN, Barisan Nasional (BN) and PBS had crossed the 37-seat threshold of a simple majority in the new 73-seat state assembly.
