
In a statement, Ismail said 267 were fined, 38 remanded and seven granted bail.
He said 70 people were detained at pubs and nightclubs.
The minister said 143 of those detained had participated in activities that made physical distancing difficult. Other offences include not wearing masks, opening their business beyond operation hours and failing to register people at premises.
Among those detained were 31 women suspected to be involved in prostitution.
Ismail also said police caught 86 illegal immigrants and two smugglers yesterday under Ops Benteng.
“The government will act strongly against anyone who tries to enter the country’s borders illegally and enforcement agencies will continue to tighten control on our borders,” he said.
