Water supply restored to more than 70% of affected areas in Selangor

Air Selangor says the restoration of water supply to the remaining 319 areas is in progress.

Water supply in Hulu Selangor has completely resumed while supply to other affected areas is in progress.
KUALA LUMPUR:
As at 12.30pm today, water supply has been restored to 75.31% or 973 of the 1,292 areas in the Klang Valley that have been affected by water cuts since Thursday.

In a statement, Air Selangor corporate communication head Elina Baseri said the restoration of water supply in the remaining 319 areas was ongoing.

Water supply was fully restored to Hulu Selangor, while supply was in various stages of resumption to Kuala Selangor (99.25%), Petaling (92.43%), Gombak (76.64%), Kuala Lumpur (52.63%), Kuala Langat (50%) and Klang/Shah Alam (38.42%).

However, she said water supply had yet to be fully restored in 55 areas although they were listed in group one which was supposed to be completed last night.

“Efforts are being taken to stabilise distribution systems to restore the water supply in these areas.

“We advised consumers not to store and use an excessive amount of water to ensure a smooth recovery process in other affected areas according to the Air Selangor restoration plan,” she said.

More than 1.2 million people in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor have suffered from water supply disruptions since Thursday after four water treatment plants were closed because of solvents illegally released by a factory in Rawang into Sungai Gong.
