He said the decision was final and that Umno had confidence in Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) leadership.

GPS used to be a part of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

GPS, consisting of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party, Progressive Democratic Party and Parti Rakyat Sarawak, was formed on June 12, 2018, after quitting BN in the wake of the 2018 general election.

Zahid, in a twitter post, said Umno hoped GPS would continue to govern the state after the Sarawak election.

Yesterday, Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg described Umno as “extreme” and that it would not be allowed to enter Sarawak.

“They (Umno) don’t know our culture. In Sarawak, we co-exist. We will not allow them (Umno) to come into Sarawak, they are extreme. We can take care of ourselves,” he said.
