PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry today reported 11 new Covid-19 infections, pushing the total number of cases to 9,385.

Nine patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, with the total recoveries to date standing at 9,092.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 165 active cases, with four being treated at the ICU and three needing respiratory treatment.

Of the 11 new cases, four were local transmissions involving three Malaysians and a foreigner.

The three cases involving Malaysians comprise one from the Telaga cluster and two from the DTI Semenyih 2 cluster, while a detainee at the temporary detention centre in Beranang, Selangor, tested positive after undergoing screening.

Seven of the imported cases, meanwhile, involve five foreigners and two Malaysians who returned from India, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.

No new casualties were recorded and the death toll remains at 128.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said the latest case from the Telaga cluster pushed the total number of patients from that cluster to eight.

As of 12 noon today, 2,743 individuals from the cluster had been screened.

“Active case detection and contact tracing for this cluster is still being carried out.”
