He said it would be up to the people to evaluate his performance as prime minister, adding that he was doing his best to lead the country.

“But it is not my right to say that I have done my best. The people are the ones who have the right to evaluate,” he said at an event to mark six months since the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government came into power.

“Ever since I became prime minister, I have surrendered myself to God. To me, my position is not important, but how I fulfil the people’s trust is.”

Muhyiddin maintained that the opportunity to helm the post was a test, adding that he could not compromise on accountability and integrity.

“It is my responsibility to be caring to the people, regardless of race, creed and colour. This is my utmost priority,” he said.

“What I have done in the past six months was based on this principle.

“I have to take care of not only the people’s lives but also their livelihoods.”

He said he would never trade his integrity for positions or ranks.
