KUALA LUMPUR:
The targeted enhanced movement control order (TEMCO) for several areas in Perlis and Kedah will be lifted tomorrow.

Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made as no new cases were detected and all residents had been screened by health ministry officials.

At a press conference today, he said the health ministry had screened 1,397 residents in Kampung Sanglang and Kampung Tanah Timbul in Perlis as well as more than 7,000 residents in Kubang Pasu and Padang Terap in Kedah.

Commenting on the Tawar cluster, Ismail said that authorities discovered it originated from a religious gathering. However, he did not reveal where the gathering was held.

“We have received a report on several positive cases in four districts, including Baling and Sik in Kedah, which involved the Tawar cluster,” Ismail said.

“It has been decided that the TEMCO is not necessary for these four districts,” said Ismail.

He also said police arrested 122 people for flouting the recovery movement control order yesterday.

Compounds were issued to 118 people, two were remanded while another two were released on bail.
