Annuar said the MN steering committee has decided to extend an official invitation to the party to join the pact on Thursday.
He also said the steering committee is working out the charter and memorandum of understanding between PAS and Umno.
“We have offered PPBM to join Muafakat Nasional. The wish has been conveyed by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to the PPBM president.
“We have been told by Muhyiddin Yassin that the PPBM supreme council has discussed the matter and is ready to agree with and accept the views of Muafakat Nasional,” he told reporters after handing over licences to traders in Batu Muda here today
Annuar said the oral agreement by PPBM to join the alliance has been brought to the MN steering committee, which has decided to extend an official invitation to the party to join the pact on Thursday.
He also said the drawing up of the charter and MoU between PAS and Umno is being carried out in stages.
Responding to a question by Mukhriz Mahathir on whether Muhyiddin will be appointed chairman of MN, Annuar said the parties in the pact will “celebrate co-existence” and there will be no tussle for the chairman’s post.
“We no longer use the old political system, we have ‘migrated’ far ahead using politics termed as ta’awun and ta’yush.
“The concept of ta’awun is to move from fighting to cooperating, and ta’ayush is respecting the principle of co-existence,” he said.
He also said that although BN has the most number of seats in Parliament, the alliance will continue to support Muhyiddin as the prime minister, which is in line with the “new political model”.
“If you follow the normal model, it has to be Umno (holding the prime minister’s post). When the time comes, perhaps tomorrow, PPBM may give Umno the post,” he added.
