KUALA LUMPUR:
About 30 witnesses are expected to testify at the High Court next year for former prime minister Najib Razak’s money laundering case involving RM27 million in funds allegedly from SRC International.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Izzat Fauzan said some of these witnesses are from the earlier RM42 million SRC International case, where a total of 57 witnesses testified.

In that case, Najib was convicted of seven charges of abuse of power, criminal breach of trust and money laundering. He was granted a stay of execution for his 12-year jail sentence and RM210 million fine pending his appeal at the Court of Appeal.

The upcoming case will see him facing another three money laundering charges over RM27 million believed to be from the former 1MDB unit.

High Court judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan set further trial dates from Aug 2 to 12, 2021.
