KOTA KINABALU:
Upko has sacked its vice-president Abidin Madingkir for backing former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman in his bid to topple the state government.

In a statement, Upko said the sacking was decided by the party’s Supreme Council last night.

This leaves Upko with just one elected representative, Ewon Benedick (Kadamaian). Party president Wilfred Madius Tangau is an appointed assemblyman.

Abidin, who is Paginatan assemblyman, was among those who switched their allegiance to Musa so that he could secure a majority to form the government.

Sabah Chief Minister Shafie Apdal then sought a dissolution of the state assembly, paving the way for an election in the state.

The election will be held in 60 days.

PKR and DAP have also sacked their assemblymen Kenny Chua and Ronnie Loh for backing Musa.
