PBS man questions ulterior motive of DAP defection claims

Why did the party's state leaders make allegations in the media and not to MACC, says Kiulu rep.

Sabah DAP leaders recently alleged that millions had been offered to obtain defections from the Warisan-led government.
KOTA KINABALU:
A Sabah assemblyman has called on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to probe allegations made by state DAP leaders that they were offered money to switch sides.

Kiulu assemblyman Joniston Bangkuai from PBS said that DAP leaders chose to air the allegations on the media, instead of lodging a report, which smacked of ulterior motive.

“Claims of assemblymen in the Warisan government being offered millions to defect is nothing more than a blatant lie to discredit its nemesis. Your government was formed by elected representatives who jumped for reasons only best known to them,” Bangkuai said in a statement.

Sabah DAP claimed its seven assemblymen were offered money and positions to defect amid claims that the state government would soon fall to the opposition.

Two assemblymen, namely Jannie Lasimbang and Calvin Chong have lodged police reports after being visited by what they claimed to be “political agents” from “the other side” over the past two days.

Previously, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) president Jeffrey Kitingan chided Warisan and DAP leaders for going public with such allegations.

He urged them to stop accusing former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman of trying to woo assemblymen and described claims that “political agents” offering money and positions to assemblymen as “far-fetched stories”.
