KUALA LUMPUR:
Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz says the government has yet to decide whether to extend the six-month moratorium period for loan repayments.

Responding to a question by Saifuddin Nasution (PH-Kulim) who had asked for clarity on the moratorium, he said the government was still discussing the matter.

“There is no final decision, but I will take note of your suggestion,” he said.

Bernama earlier reported him as saying that the moratorium period would end in September as scheduled despite calls for it to be extended another six months.

According to the news agency, he said a targeted approach would be taken moving forward as under the recovery movement control order, many businesses were now back in operation and able to service their loans.

The six-month freeze on loan repayments was introduced on April 1. It will end on Sept 30.
