14 cases reported in new Covid-19 cluster

The cluster involves an old folks home in Kluang, Johor.

Eleven Malaysians are among the 14 who tested positive in the new Rumah Warga Emas Kluang cluster.
PETALING JAYA:
Fourteen Covid-19 cases have been reported in a new cluster involving an old folks home in Johor.

The Rumah Warga Emas Kluang cluster recorded 11 cases involving its residents, all of whom are Malaysians.

Another Malaysian who tested positive is a family member of the owner of the old folks home.

Also testing positive is a foreigner who is a worker at the home.

Health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah said the first case involved the death of an individual on July 19. The individual had tested positive during Covid-19 screening.

Following that, the ministry carried out investigations and active case detection. As of July 20, a total of 39 people had been screened, during which 13 individuals tested positive. Eighteen tested negative, and seven were awaiting results.

The source of the transmission is being investigated.
