Ipoh district police chief A Asmadi Abdul Aziz said police were informed of the incident at 12.35pm by a member of the public.
He said the baby was believed to have been thrown by a 16-year-old teenage girl from her bedroom window on the second floor, from about 9m.
“A neighbour heard a thud at the back of his house and found the baby,” he said.
Asmadi said there were bloodstains on the window grill and bedsheet in the girl’s bedroom.
The baby, who sustained head injuries, is in critical condition and is being treated at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here.
“The suspect has been brought to the same hospital for treatment,” he said, adding that police had not recorded a statement from her as she was weak.
