No need to review Salleh’s application, says Sabah Umno leader

He says former Umno treasurer Salleh Said Keruak's application to rejoin Umno has already been decided by top state party leaders.

KOTA KINABALU:
Sabah Umno communication director Ghazalie Ansing said there’s no need for discussions among party leaders to decide on former members coming back into the fold.

He said the party’s stand on former Umno treasurer Salleh Said Keruak’s request to rejoin the party had already been made and, therefore, there was no need for discussions among divisional leaders and state Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin.

“Bung said he has already received Salleh’s request and now his application is being reviewed for approval.

“There are no double standards in Bung’s actions. He is not picky over who can and cannot rejoin Umno.

“Umno is an inclusive party, not exclusive, and the party will accept any Malaysian Bumiputera who wishes to be an Umno member,” he said in a statement here today.

Ghazalie was responding to Kota Belud division chief Fadli Juanas who wanted Salleh’s request to rejoin Umno reviewed and the views of all grassroots party members be heard.

Salleh had confirmed that he had applied to rejoin Umno on May 26 this year after leaving the party in 2018. He also tried to join PKR, but later decided to pull back his application to join the party.
