Senior Minister (Security) Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in announcing this today, said there are no issues with maintaining social distancing for those from the same house as they are staying together.
“We will take action against whoever breaches this rule,” he said during a press conference here today.
Malaysia has reported 103 deaths and 6,176 Covid-19 cases so far.
Ismail also said all public transport vehicles will carry only half their capacity from tomorrow.
If a bus can accommodate 40, then it can only load 20 from tomorrow.
The same rule will apply to LRT trains, Ismail added.
Ismail further reminded Malaysians that the best way to defeat the virus was through self-discipline.
He cited Taiwan as an example, with its low death and infection rate, despite not implementing any form of movement control, quarantine or lockdown.
“Taiwan recorded only six deaths and their infection rate is among the lowest in the world,” he said, adding that they maintained social distancing, wore masks and washed hands frequently.
He said self-discipline was crucial as medical experts expect Covid-19 to be around for the next two years, with no vaccine in sight.
Tomorrow, many Malaysians return to work under the conditional movement control order (CMCO). Malaysians have been under MCO since March 18.
Ismail said even though restaurants are allowed to open, with strict social distancing in place, several have voiced uneasiness over the issue.
“They can continue to only allow takeaways.”
Those who felt uncomfortable going to malls, should avoid such places.
Sabah, Sarawak, Kedah, Penang, Negri Sembilan and Pahang have so far refused to follow Putrajaya’s call and will continue to maintain the present phase four of the MCO.

When asked on some states that have decided not to relax the MCO due to fears of the virus spreading further, Ismail said infected areas will be closed according to the locality as other areas may still be green zones.
“That will be the government’s move if there is any sudden increase in Covid-19 cases,” he said.
Ismail said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had held a meeting with state menteris besar and chief ministers and it was agreed that states could adopt the general standard operating procedures released by the federal government.
For instance, he said restaurants are allowed to open only until 10pm nationwide but some outlets were allowed to open till midnight.
“That should not happen. It must be within the standard operating measures,” he said adding that police and voluntary corps will monitor the SOP.
