He said Idrus had served in various capacities while in the legal and judicial service.
“This man will maintain the credibility and integrity of the AG’s office,” Sri Ram said.
He said Idrus was honest and was very independent in discharging his duties.

“He is versatile as he was once a prosecutor and a legal adviser.”
Sri Ram said he had outlined the attributes of Idrus two years ago in an interview with a radio station when the Pakatan Harapan government was scouting for an AG soon after it came to power.
He said there was no doubt that Idrus would bring a “knowledge base” to the AGC.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Bar president Abdul Fareed Abdul Gafoor said Idrus brought along his wide experience and exposure, including his stint as a judge.

He said that would be of great assistance in his new job.
“The Bar believes he will be able to carry out his duties efficiently and effectively to uphold the rule of law without fear or favour,” he added.
Fareed said the Bar, a key stakeholder in the administration of justice, was ready to work alongside Idrus on matters of mutual interest.
