Azmin ally Afif quits as Penang exco

His resignation comes after Mohamed Azmin Ali broke ranks from Pakatan Harapan to back Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister.

Penang PKR’s Dr Afif Bahardin, who is aligned to the party’s former deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, has resigned his post as the state’s health, agriculture and agro-based industries committee chairman.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said Afif submitted his letter of resignation this morning before an exco meeting.

Afif had cited political developments at the federal level as the reason for quitting the post.
