GEORGE TOWN: An Indonesian construction worker was today charged in the Sessions Court here with possessing Islamic State (IS) materials at a house in Balik Pulau on Jan 6.
Irwanzir, 30, of Acheh, faces a seven-year jail term and a fine if found guilty under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code of possessing items associated with terrorist groups or acts.
No plea was recorded as it was a terror-related charge. Judge Norsalha Hamzah set March 5 for mention to receive forensic reports on the materials found.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Izhanudin Alias prosecuted. Irwanzir was not represented.
