KUALA KANGSAR:
Success has the potential to influence mankind, with greed causing them to lose their focus, invoking jealousy and sparking acts of malice and slander against others, the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah said.

He said success could also lead to power struggles and leadership crises.

“Achieving success is a challenge, but to maintain success is a bigger and more difficult challenge,” he said at the 12th convocation ceremony of Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) here today.

Sultan Nazrin, who is the USAS chancellor, said the success of an institution is influenced by visionary leadership, team spirit, dedication, staff commitment and support from the stakeholders as well as the surrounding community.

He said the 20-year-old USAS had attained impressive achievements in various fields, including curriculum development, enrolment, management and revenue.

He urged the university to embark on a strategic plan for the next 20 years by identifying and exploring new territories for greater success.

He hoped that when the university celebrates its golden jubilee in 30 years, it would have a reputation of being an institution with a specific identity.

A total of 1,367 graduates received degrees and diplomas in the one-day convocation.
