UM ranked 13th best university in Asia

Other Malaysian universities in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings: Asia 2020 also show improvements in ranking.

PETALING JAYA:
An international survey of universities has ranked Universiti Malaya (UM) as the 13th best institution in Asia, six spots up from last year.

The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings: Asia 2020 also ranked several other Malaysian universities higher than their positions last year.

The survey rates universities on various indicators including their academic and employer reputations, staff with PhDs, research papers per faculty, and international research network.

UM achieved an overall score of 94, the same as Japan’s University of Tokyo. This score was not far off from the University of Hong Kong (ranked 10th), which scored 94.3.

Universiti Putra Malaysia moved up one spot from 34 while Universiti Sains Malaysia jumped to 37th spot from 43rd spot last year.

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia moved two spots up to 39th position while Universiti Teknologi Malaysia went up one spot to 46th.

The National University of Singapore, meanwhile, retained its top spot with an overall score of 100.
