GEORGE TOWN:
The Amanah party election, which is being held in several states, is going on smoothly with no issues or attempts to oust any leader, said its deputy president Salahuddin Ayub.

“I have not heard of any issue to oust any leader in this party election.

“We have now reached the state level in the party election. Tomorrow (Saturday) it will be in Perak and Penang. Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu have completed theirs and all went well,” he said.

On claims that Amanah was trying to implement the “cai” system in the party election, Salahuddin said grassroots members should choose those who can discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them as leaders.

“Do not choose based on the cai (list). From what I can see, those elected are based on their capability, merit, experience and track record. I think that’s a healthy practice,” he said.

Earlier, Salahuddin, who is also the agriculture and agro-based industry minister, attended a dinner and presentation of aid to the poor and needy in Tasek Gelugor.
