Speaking at the Youth Economic Forum here today, Syed Saddiq said youths should work with the older generation and prove by their work that they were able to be diligent and think outside the box.
He said youths in the corporate sector would undoubtedly have to smash many different forms of “glass ceilings”, calling for them to think unconventionally.
“Never be intimidated, there’ll always be barriers. Instead of being disheartened, use these as a source of motivation.
“One of the most satisfying things is to prove them wrong through your actions. Your youth is not a liability, it’s an asset for you,” he said.
Syed Saddiq said it took more than a year for him to continually push for and to convince the Cabinet to lower the electoral age to 18.
“Even then, I remember that after convincing the Cabinet, they said it would be impossible to convince the Dewan Rakyat,” he said, citing how an amendment on the restoration of rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) failed to be passed.
“Our work and action will disprove their thoughts and they’ll see that young people are not just leaders of tomorrow but also today,” he said.
