Body recovered in sea off Semporna

Sabah marine police believe victim is one of seven persons missing after boat sank on Thursday.

A body believed to be one of the seven victims reported missing after their boat sank on Thursday has been found in the Mataking Sea off Semporna.

The body was found by the public who informed General Operations Force (GOF) personnel on duty at Mataking, Sabah Region 4 Marine Police Force (MPF) commander Mohamad Pajeri Ali said.

He said the nationality of the victim had yet to be established.

Pajeri said the search radius for the other victims would be expanded depending on need. The search and rescue operation would be carried out for one week,’ he said.

It was reported that a boat with nine passengers on board had capsized on Thursday. A man was rescued in the waters of Merabung while a woman was found drowned in the waters of Bangingod, Tungku near here.
