GEORGE TOWN:
A police team making a narcotics arrest found what they called two unexploded “bombs” and 600 bullets in a fire hose reel cabinet of an apartment building in Bukit Dumbar today.

At press time, a bomb squad was inspecting the items found.

There are 25 flats on the floor where the “bombs” and ammunition were found. However, no one was evacuated from the 22-storey building.

The scene late tonight at the Sinar Bukit Dumbar apartment building in Penang.

A team of narcotics officers found the ammunition at about 9pm, after arresting a suspect at the same apartment.

According to an officer on the site, the suspect led the police to where the so-called drugs were stashed.

The suspect brought the officers to the 15th floor of the apartment, to a fire hose reel box. There, officers were rudely shocked to find two “bombs” and loads of ammunition.
