Police want 800 more in special forces, commandos

Bukit Aman official says government approval sought for hiring more people for Special Action Unit and VAT 69 commandos.

IPOH: The Royal Malaysia Police needs more personnel to join its Special Action Unit and VAT 69 commandos, especially to safeguard the country’s borders, according to a senior official of the federal police headquarters.

The director of the police Internal Security and Public Order Department, Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, said the paperwork had been completed and it would be presented to the government for consideration.

“The application is to add the number of the Special Action Unit (UTK) personnel from more than 400 to 888 and the VAT 69 Commando personnel from 662 to 991,” he said.

He spoke to reporters after flagging off a convoy in conjunction with the golden jubilee of the VAT 69 Commando at the Nazrin 69 Commando Hall in Hulu Kinta here today.
