“We leave it to the Perak state committee to resolve it,” he told reporters after launching the 1Utama 1PAY E-wallet and ONESHOP E-Commerce Platform here.
“Can we stick to finance ministry issues?”
Lim was responding to questions on reports of infighting in Perak DAP, which saw two of its office bearers quit yesterday over a dispute with state chief Nga Kor Ming regarding Paul Yong’s status as a state exco member.
Yong is currently on leave ahead of a rape trial.
According to Malaysiakini, former deputy treasurer Leong Cheok Keng and assistant secretary Leow Thye Yih claimed in a press conference yesterday that Nga had failed to consult the state DAP leadership before deciding that Perak Pakatan Harapan would have the final say on Yong.
Leong is Yong’s lawyer as well as Malim Nawar state assemblyman.
Lim, who is the finance minister, was also questioned about the government’s promise of oil royalties to Sarawak.
He said the government intends to keep its election pledge of 20% oil royalties for the state, adding however that it is presently unable to do so due to the previous administration which he said had “caused enormous amounts of funds to be wasted”.
He said the country had lost about RM150 billion to 1MDB and other scandals but assured that the government would announce measures to show its commitment to Sabah and Sarawak.
