Police photographer Corporal Jumardi Mursalim confirmed this during cross-examination by lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah on the first day of Nazrin’s murder trial.

He told Shah Alam High Court judge Ab Karim Ab Rahman that there were red lipstick stains on the blanket and mattress when he first came to the house four years ago.

“You entered the house. The first place you entered was the main room. Did you see the red lipstick scribblings and the room in a mess?” Shafee asked.

Jumardi admitted there was some scribbling on a blanket when he entered the house.

Shafee then asked if Jumardi had noticed that the clothes of both sexes in the walk-in-wardrobe were shredded.

The witness replied “no”.

Jumardi agreed with Shafee when he was asked if the mattress was shredded and the laptop broken.

“Did you feel it was weird that nobody wanted to steal the laptop but wanted it broken?” Shafee asked.

The witness agreed with Shafee.

Jumardi said Nazrin had lodged the police report on the break-in on Oct 1, 2015 at 1am.

Shafee did not explain in court his reason for bringing up this 2015 police report in connection with this murder case.

The first witness who took the stand during the trial, that started at 10am today, was police photographer Corporal Mahadin Bakar, 42.

Mahadin confirmed that he saw a chisel and that the handle of the door where the body was found was missing. There were burn stains on the floor where Nazrin had died on June 14, 2018.

The second witness, police photographer Corporal Nazrin Zakaria, said he did not see any cellphones beside the deceased but saw soot covering the walls. He saw the burnt body by the side of the mattress.

He said there were blood stains around the body.

Shafee then asked if the blood was still wet and flowing. Nazrin said “the blood was still red”.

Nazrin also said he saw an arrow-like shaft without the tip.

The trial continues on Friday, Sept 13, at 9am.

About 60 witnesses are expected to testify.

Nazrin’s wife, Samirah Muzaffar, 44, her two teenage sons, aged 17 and 14, and an Indonesian national, Eka Wahyu Lestari have been charged with murdering Nazrin. Eka is still at large.

The four were charged with committing the offence at a house in Mutiara Homes, Mutiara Damansara, between 11.30pm on June 13, 2018 and 4am on June 14 2018.

The prosecution in the murder trial had earlier this morning said it intends to prove that he died before he was found burnt in his room.

In her opening statement, deputy public prosecutor Raja Rozela Raja Toran said Nazrin died due to complications of “blast and blunt penetrating injuries”.

“The prosecution will also prove, through medical experts from University Malaya Medical Centre and from the second post-mortem, that he died of multiple blunt impact to the head,” she told the court.

“Their testimonies will show that the deceased did not die due to the fire incident. The fire was deliberately lit to hide the real reason for the death.”
