KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have recorded statements from 12 Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) staff in connection with the systems disruption at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) last month.

Among those questioned was a woman involved in handling the systems, KLIA police chief Zulkifli Adamsah said.

He said the KLIA systems’ providers would also be called soon to facilitate the investigations.

“The case is complicated as it involves technical matters and needs assessments from experts in the field,” he said, adding that a report would be forwarded to the Selangor police chief for further action.

The systems disruption on Aug 21 affected major functions such as flight information display, the check-in counters and luggage handling system as well as WiFi connections.

The operations returned to normal four days later after MAHB replaced the network equipment.

The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief following a police report lodged by MAHB.
