
The youth leaders from Warisan, PKR, DAP and Upko have also come up with a 10-point declaration which they will submit to the federal and state governments soon.
They also unanimously agreed to make Deputy Home Minister Azis Jamman, who is also Warisan youth chief, their head during a ceremony to unveil the declaration here today.
Youth leaders from Amanah and Sabah PPBM also attended the event.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Warisan Youth deputy chief Mohd Ismail Ayub said: “We hope the government will look at this declaration seriously as this is the voice of the youth. It is not just one party but all the youth wings in Sabah.”
The declaration calls for the federal government to honour Sabah’s rights, as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
The group wants to help resolve the issue of illegal immigrants and opposes those involved in the illegal issuance of citizenship papers to foreigners.
They are also against racism or any action, be it racial or religious, that can threaten the unity and harmony between Sabahans.
The group opposes the abuse of power, from the grassroots up to the highest levels.
Responding to a question on the reported spat between Warisan and PPBM, Ismail said these issues were all in the past and they considered any problem as having been settled, after the establishment of their group.
“Yes, we admit there has been friction but what’s important is the understanding we have forged and begun today.
