PUTRAJAYA:
The transport ministry says a committee will be established to investigate the failure of the Total Airport Management System (TAMS) at KLIA following several days of system disturbances there.

The failure of TAMS at KLIA was detected on Aug 21. It resulted in four days of flight cancellations and delays as well as discomfort to passengers.

Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook said the committee which was formed administratively was to investigate the cause of the disturbance and suggest measures to prevent its repeat.

“The committee has been given one month to prepare a detailed report for the Cabinet,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The six-man committee will be chaired by ministry secretary-general Mohd Khairul Adib Abdul Rahman.

The other members comprise Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) executive chairman Nungsari Ahmad Radhi, Mavcom member Long See Wool, Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) member Afzal Abdul Rahim, CAAM CEO Ahmad Nizar Zolfakar, and National Cyber Safety Agency chief executive Md Shah Nuri Md Zain.

The ministry’s aviation division will act as secretariat.
