Penang CM leads investment mission to US west coast

The delegation will meet existing investors as well as brief potential ones on investment opportunities in Penang.

PETALING JAYA:
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow is leading a week-long investment promotion delegation to the west coast of the United States from today.

He is accompanied by his special adviser and InvestPenang director Lee Kah Choon, InvestPenang CEO Loo Lee Lian and two officers from investPenang.

A statement from Chow’s office said the objectives of the mission to the California area are to further promote Penang as a location of choice for such industries as semiconductors, electrical and electronics, ICT, medical devices, IT and global business services.

It is also to establish relationships with corporate headquarters of US investors that have selected Penang as their investment centres, and to update potential investors and industry players on the latest developments and opportunities available in the state.

According to Chow, the US has been among the top three FDI investors for Penang for the past 10 years, with total cumulative investments of about RM14.9 billion.
