Umno ready to give up more assets

It comes amid reports the party will soon give up its remaining shares in Utusan.

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno says it is working towards disposing more of its shares in businesses.

Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa however declined to elaborate, saying the matter is for the party treasurer to decide.

“I can confirm efforts are ongoing to release shares held by Umno,” he told reporters at Parliament lobby today.

In February, Umno gave up its 31.6% share in Utusan Melayu Berhad, ending its ownership of the media company.

It was reported that the party would soon give up its remaining shares in the media company, which publishes Utusan Malaysia.
