KOTA KINABALU:
The state government will propose that Pesta Igal Igal be included in Sabah’s calendar of events.

Deputy Chief Minister Christina Liew who is also tourism, culture and environment minister, said the move would be good for tourism as well as a way to preserve igal-igal, a Bajau traditional dance.

She lauded the Bajau Artistes Association’s endeavour to organise the festival yearly.

“The programme will have a positive impact on tourism and ought to be continued as it could help to prevent this unique cultural heritage from disappearing over time,” she said today at the closing of the event held since Friday.
